The Easter weekend was notable for the visit of Japanese Newaza legend, Koji ‘Komlock’ Komuro.
Komlock arrived on Friday afternoon and ran a junior class session for the Academy Kids that evening where he covered both Tachiwaza and Newaza techniques.
Saturday he covered his tokui waza, Sode Guruma Jime in Depth, as well as several armlock variations.
The day finished with a Q+A session.
Sunday, we were treated to a session on some of his favourite throws, including Sode Tsuri Komi Goshi, Ashi Guruma, and a one-step Uchi Mata.
The day finished with a short randori session.
Represented were Judoka from the Academy, Masterton Judo and Jujitsu Academy, Kapiti Judo Club, Palmerston North Judo Club, Upper Hutt City Judo Club, Budokan Judo Club and Christchurch Judo School.
