This year’s Wellington Closed Champs came at the end of a severely curtailed tournament calendar. The event was attended by Budokan JC, Koizumi Kwai, Wainui YMCA, Upper Hutt City JC and the Academy.
Some excellent judo was on display with our Senior Boys taking all four places in the Open, Lucinda getting Silver in her openweight against an opponent twice her weight and the Senior Men’s Open final contested between Hugo and Patrick.
Unfortunately, Sparkles forgot to tap out of Hugo’s armlock during their semifinal, resulting in a trip to ED.
