After spending a fortnight at Camberley finishing off her preparations, Qona Christie became the first Judoka to represent Wellington at the Commonwealth Games.
Qona fought on Monday 1 August (NZ Time) and had two fights.
She was given a bye, taking her through to the quarter finals, where she met Christianne Legentil of Mauritius. While she put up a solid fight against her opponent, she lost by Waza-ari
In her repecharge, she fought Malin Wilson of Scotland, losing by ippon.
Qona has gained valuable experience against European trained judoka at this competition and we are all very proud of her reaching this level.
The Academy salutes you, Qona.
